I think looking at bullet hell games as inspiration for my game was the wrong approach. It came naturally due to the apparent proximity of the genre, but I don’t even like bullet hells. To hectic. I like jumping, exploration and feeling of progress. 🧵 #gamedev #indiedev

Also, at the latest demo at Berlin Games Scene, the most common feedback was that the game is already to crowded with rubble – it’s hard to keep track of the players location.

My best friend Olli, who is also my #1 game tester used to playtest the game on the side, while listening to podcasts, in kind of a relaxed flow state. It’s not what I anticipated for the game early on, but it mirrors my feeling in the game, so maybe it’s time to face reality.

Is the world ready for a “cozy arcade shooter”? I’ll definitely need more content and a few changes, like dropping the infinite track generation in favor of a step-based level progression, but I think this could work. #cozygame
